Getting the family together

Recently I’ve been lucky enough to photograph some extended family portraits. It’s a fantastic excuse to get everyone together to celebrate the grandparents wedding anniversary, birthdays, graduations and family traditions. Having a photographer there when everyone is together is a fantastic opportunity to capture all the relationships in your family. Late last year, I had the pleasure of photographing the Gunther/Scully families. They were celebrating Harry & Margaret’s (The Grandparents) 50th Wedding anniversary and had all the children and grandchildren at the Scully’s beautiful horse property in Devon Meadows.

With 16 of them in total, it gave me the opportunity not only to get a shot of everyone together (Which is a rarity) but also to have some time with each family group. There were lots of laughs and we got some beautiful portraits as well as candid photographs of everyone. The family each ordered some beautiful framed artwork for their houses, knowing how hard it is to get older kids together and looking comfortable in photographs, they knew this time in their lives before all the kids grow up and move out, would be a beautiful reminder on their walls of the importance of their family units.

To help them choose their artwork we did a cinematic slideshow presentation and used specialised software to choose which sizes and frames would best compliment their homes. Everyone was absolutely thrilled with the final result.
